The system of disclosure of the diagnosis to cancer patients now exists widely in China as “open medical system”. At same time there still are some families that are strongly against the open system,Under this contradictious situation nurses need to deal with pressures both morally and practically The good understanding of the attitude of these cancer patients towards disclosure must be very helpful while trying to resolve this kind of problems From Mar.1998 till the end of 1999 we sent out 121 questionnaires about the reactions to information disclosure to those patients who were already aware of their condition of diseases The investigation showed that disclosure was beneficial to the treatment processes of cancer patients and that disclosure might increase the patient's fear but could never cause any despair of giving up their hope of life Any accidental disclosure by nurses in daily routine work or “by mistakes”will not do any harm to the treatment processes of cancer patients.
