钙离子(Ca^2+)是常见的第二信使,不同于其它第二信使,其主要位于细胞外或存储于内质网(endoplasmicreticulum,ER)等细胞器内。静息状态下细胞内游离Ca^2+浓度(intracellular Ca^2+ concentra.tion,[Ca^2+]i)约为细胞外的1/20000,受体激活或生物信号刺激可通过改变[Ca^2+]i进一步发挥生物放大效应。[Ca^2+];
Endoplasmic reticulum calcium ( Ca^2+ ) sensor stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) and plasma membrane Ca^2+ channel Orail are the bona fide molecular components of the store-operated Ca^2+ entry (SOCE) and the Ca^2+ release-activated Ca^2+ current (ICRAC)- We have uncovered the protein expression of STIMI and Orail in various tis- sues and described many kinds of roles for these proteins under physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Here, we summarize the novel findings pertaining to the role of STIM1 and Orail in the vascular system and discuss their potential use as targets in the treatment of vascular diseases.
