摘要
This is a case study of a settlement of floating population in Beijing known as the “Henan Village”.The authors presented a rich reservoir of fieldwork data,describing and analyzing the second stratification among the peasants under the double effects of the transition toward a market economy and the rigid system of urban and rural resident registration.The stratification,as the authors pointed out,is a result of the flow of rural labor force to metropolitans and their participation in the division of work in modern industry.On the other hand,it is also restricted by the separate and closed systems of rural and urban resident registration.
