油茶花芽于6月下旬至7月中旬形成,11月上旬为盛花期,幼果于翌年4月上旬开始发育,6月下旬形成幼胚,10月果实成熟。异花授粉结果率高于自花援粉。胚珠不能形成功能性8核胚囊,合子发育时受阻,P、K、B、Zn营养元素缺乏,以及病虫和冻害等为造成落花落果的主要因素。
The flower-buds or the Oil-tea Camellia form during late June to middleJuly and the full blossoming-period is in early November. Young fruit beginsto develop in early April of the next year and young embryons form in eateJune and the fruit becomes ripe in October. The rate of bearing-fruit bycross pollination is higher than that by self-pollination. The premature dropand shedding of petals result from the failure of ovules developing intofunctional blastulae with 8 nuclei, the zyqote development being checked,the shortage of nutritional elements P, K, B, Zn,disease,and freeze injury,etc.
