摘要
采用仿真方法分析了基于异步传递模式 (ATM)的 IP交换系统的关键参数对系统性能的影响 ,提出了新的网络到网络流的标识方法和流的二步分类法。仿真结果表明 ,IP交换系统能明显地改善系统的吞吐量 ,降低数据转发时延 ;新的网络到网络流的标识方法具有占用系统虚连接(VC)数少 ,同时又能使大部分业务通过硬件转发的特点 ;新的流的二步分类法既能保证系统快速为主要业务建立硬件传递连接通路 。
IP switching is a new approach by which IP traffic can be switched by ATM hardware rather than forwarded by IP software. Its performance should be carefully evaluated before it can be put into practical use. By simulation, performance of IP switching is given, and a new flow identification and a new two step flow classification are presented. Our main conclusions are as follows: (1) IP switching will lead to over 90% switched datagrams, and can obviously improve the throughput and reduce the transmission delay of IP packets. (2) The new flow identification, network pair, works better than flows of type 1 and flows of type 2, and can get high percentage of datagrams switched with lower VC usage. (3) The two step flow classification works better than either the X/Y classifier or port classifier because it not only assigns special VCs to specific high priority applications, but also gets high percentage of switched datagrams.
