It is reported in this paper that the chromogenic reagent, arsenazo DCS (ANZ DCS) can be used as metallochromic indicator in the EDTA titration of calcium and magnesium. It is proved that ANZ DCS gives a sharper endpoint indication than EBT, calcon and K B in an ammoniacal buffer solution of pH 10. In the presence of acetylacetone, calcium can be determined in the presence of magnesium. This indicator has been used in the EDTA titration of CaO and MgO in cement with good accuracy and selectivity.
