医学地质主要研究地球上无机物(矿物、岩石、元素等)和有机物(微生物)对人类、动植物的作用和影响。煤炭矿产的乱采滥挖,使矿物、岩石、元素由静态变为动态,也广泛的扩散了有毒有害物质对人类健康造成危害。医学地质在现今大环境下为医学与生态学和环境学研究的结合提供了巨大的潜力,促进了煤炭资源的科学合理利用。
