Objectives To investigate the rehabilitation effect of acupoint pressing on motor function and depression symptoms in patients with early stroke hemiplegia. Methods The patients (n = 60) were divided into acupoint pressing group and control group (each n = 30) according to their hospitalization orders. The acupoint pressing group was given the intervention of acupoint pressing besides of ward routine treatment and nursing, and control group was only given ward routine treatment and nursing. After 2 weeks the motor function and depression symptoms were compared between two groups. Results Before the intervention of acupoint pressing, the differences in scores of Motor Assessment Scale (MAS) and scores of Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) had no statistical significance between two groups (P 〉 0. 05). After the intervention for 2 weeks, the score of SDS was lower in acupoint pressing group than those in control group ( P 〈 0.05) at the same time point. The comparison in the difference in SDS score before and after the intervention between two groups showed a statistical significance ( P 〈 0.05 ) at two time points. The cbmparJson in the difference in MAS score before and after the intervention betweentwo groups showed a statistical significance (P 〈 0.05 ) pressing can improve the recovery of motor function and stroke hemiplegia. at two time points. Conclusion Early acupoint alleviate depression symptoms in the patients with
