摘要
小说《汤姆叔叔的小屋》中有关汤姆人生悲剧的整体叙事是通过一系列精心设计的死亡事件展开的。斯托夫人采用死亡预设、死亡追叙、死亡干预、死亡补叙等手法成功完成了小说文本围绕汤姆的主体叙事。死亡不仅仅是斯托夫人用以控诉蓄奴制罪恶的文本主题,更是其用以构建小说主体叙事的重要策略和主要手段。
The main character＇s tragic life in the novel Uncle Tom＇s Cabin is constructed through a series of well-designed death events.Mrs.Stowe employed multiple skills,such as telling the death of Tom at the beginning of the story,making flashback of his death,intervening narrations,and adding-up narrations,to develop Tom-centered narration.It is claimed in this paper death is not only the theme with which Mrs.Stowe accused of the evil nature of slavery,but also a major technique constructing the main narration.
