The paper describes the development status of regional health information networks in the United States, Canada, the U- nited Kingdom, summarizes the 9 challenges of regional health information networks as well as the function of regional health information networks, elaborates the implementation plan and future direction of regional health informatization, then makes suggestions for its devel- opment.
