Objective:To study the change of catecholamine (CA) following traumatic brain injury.Methods:32 adult SD rats were randomly divided into four groups(8 in each group) as sham nontraumatic group,2 h,6 h,24 h postinjury group. The right pareital cerebral lobe contusions were produced with a weight dropping method.Specimens around contusion were gathered.Concentrations of sodium, calciumion,CA and water content in the brain tissues were evaluated. Results:The result showed that the sodium, calcium concentration, contend of brain water and CA in brain tissue around contusion increased continuously after 2 horus postinjury. Conclusion:The experiment suggested that increases of sodium, calcium and CA following the acute traumatic brain injury is important in mechanisms of neuronal damage after brain injury.
