摘要
在美国汉学研究中,费正清等倡导的“冲击—回应”模式和保罗柯文为代表的“中国中心观”模式,形成了当代美国中国近代史研究的两种对立的理论体系,从不同角度来认识中国近代社会发展变化的历史,都各具重要参考价值,也各有失之偏颇之处。
There are two systems of theories in American studies of Chinese modern history: 'Impact and Response' and 'China-Centered Approach'. John Fairbank stressed the process that the modern transformation of Chinese society was that China's response to the West i on the contrary, Paul Cohen tried to explore the law of the internal progress of Chinese modern society. Although the theories as above enunciated are being continuously corrected and being also pregnant with new ways, they still have greatly influenced the studies of the modern Chinese history in America.
