According to the historical documents written on the bamboo slips of Han Dynas- ty, aiming at protecting the agricultural development, government of early Han Dynasty is- sued laws prohibiting the pig grazing which may have contributed to the rise of pig's captivi- ty. In the time of Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, both civil individual feeding and col- lective farming were taken into effect, so did the guarding system of frontier fortresses. Han people kept high awareness of pigs, being widely used no matter in the court reward, health care, diet and names of places and persons. All those reflected the far-reaching cultural influ- ence of pig culture. Moreover, “meat price” written on the Northwest bamboo slips of Han Dynasty may be the abbreviation for the price of pork, which has provided an important ref- erence to deepening the research of social life history of Han Dynasty.
