The entering and exiting facilities like stairways, escalator, walkways are inevitable for passengers moving at urban rail transit stations, their scales have direct influence not only on the quality of service and the operation safety, but also on the initial cost of rail transit station. A literature review has shown that the standards in different countries or areas provide diverse methods to calculate the scale of the traffic facilities, sometimes they differ largely. Through a comparison of the methods that determine the scale of the entering and exiting facility in China's Mainland, Taipei and the USA, the methods that examine the facility scale in emergencies according to various standards, the differences on the design methods and parameters among all the standards about stairways, escalator, walkways and ticket vending machines are analyzed. Finally suggestions on the differences of two traffic facility types are proposed.
