Handing and modelling multipatch tensorproduct Bezier surfaces often causes continuity problems. A method is described on how to approximate a given surface in such a way that C 1 continuity at a crossing point of four surface patches can be obtained. The idea is to choose the four Bezier control points associated with the mixed derivatives at a crossing point of four surfaces to cause C 1 continuity at the crossing point. The four Bezier points can be obtained by approximating the given surfaces, minimizing the sum of the four distance squares. Moreover, the error function and the error estimation method of the approximated surface is presented.
