Radioisotope Am 241 is a mild γ_radiation source of which QNT type direct reading γ_ray thickness tester is made. This apparatus is in possession of specialities such as high detection sensitivity, measuring accuracy and safety reliable operation, being suitable for measuring thickness of steel sheet in a manner of non_contacting, continuous and rapid detection. Practical use of the radiation tester to measuring thickness of cold_rolled sheet is also described.
