摘要
"公众史学"是指公众在反思自我历史意识和历史认识生成的情形下所进行的历史表现与传播。在新媒体急剧发展、自媒体传播渐成趋势,而公众对历史知识的渴求日益增强的状况下,职业历史学家面临着两种路径的选择:或者是自觉地反思和分析自我历史认识、历史意识的形成过程,扬长补短,成为"公众史学"的参与者或引导者;或者是继续保持"圈内人"并且只面对内行的身份,等待公众这些"圈外人"或外行在新型知识传播方式下自我提升,然后被取而代之。以学术学科的建制与专业性眼光来建设"公众史学"学科乃当务之急。人们可以在历史认识形成过程研究与分析的基础上,超越国外"公众史学"学科建设在理论设计上的零散性;同时,充分考虑自媒体传播的趋势,结合史德、史学方法论、跨学科交流、实务操作四个层次进行学科框架设计。历史知识的公众生产与传播既可以促成社会的有序和健康,也可以导致社会的混乱和病变;在自媒体传播状态下,"历史"的这种双刃剑功能可以在很短的时间内迅速转换。因此,有必要对公众参与历史知识的生产与传播做出战略性思考,尽可能使之形成一个可控而又开放的健康环境。
Public history refers to historical representation and transmission made by the public when they reflect upon their own historical consciousness and historical understanding. With the increasing growth of public desire for historical knowledge, professional historians now have two alternatives: one is to consciously reflect and analyze the development of their own historical knowing and historical consciousness, taking advantage of their merits and avoiding their weakness so as to become the participant or guide of public history; the other is to retain their role of "insiders" and keep on writing histories only for professional historians, waiting for the self-improvement of the public or the "outsiders" in terms of historical writing in the context of the new modes of information transmission and then letting these amateurs replace the professional historians. It is high time that we constructed public history discipline with the organizational system of academic discipline and with professional insight. With the spread of We-media, the double-edged functions of history may change within short period of time. Therefore, we need to think strategically of public participance in the production and transmission of historical knowledge, trying to offer a controllable, open and healthy environment for it.
