摘要 Just as the cliff serves as a demarcation between two different worlds, there seems to the protagonist in The Catcher in the Rye the dichotomies between innocence and corruption, children and adults. While these dualisms are projected in the story, they are also deconstructed and the characterization of Holden clearly shows the instability of those dualisms.
