Principle of Diversity and Multicultural Service in American Public Libraries——Interviews to Librarians in American Public Libraries

摘要针对公共图书馆为民众提供的多元文化服务问题,访谈美国5家公共图书馆的馆员,就公共图书馆在美国多元化社会生活中所起的作用进行探讨,并提出构建多元文化服务的三点思考与启示,即职业使命和内在价值,倡导社会包容的理念以及创造交流的第三空间,以期为我国公共图书馆服务提供切实可行的参考。 Based on the interviews to librarians serving in 5 American public libraries on how public libraries could provide multicultural services, the paper discusses the role of public libraries in diversified American society, and illustrates 3 suggestions on how to establish muhicultural service：（1）determining the library mission and value system; （2）building a society with torlerance and social inclusion; （3） providing a communication channel：the third place.
