摘要
流行语研究首先需要解决的一个问题就是确定流行语的性质。在以往的研究中,人们基本认定的流行语特征涉及到一定时间、特定范围和使用频率等。其中值得重新认识的是特定范围这一特性,事实上并不是所有的流行语都有这一特性。流行语是一个历史范畴,它必然带有明显的时段性特征;新奇性是流行语的又一特征,也是其得以流行的重要原因之一;由于时段性和新奇性,使得流行语的使用频率高于其他词语。时段性和高频性几乎是每个流行语都具备的,是流行语的主要特征,而新奇性是多数流行语所具备的,可以看做是流行语的从属特征。
The first problem of catchword research is to define the nature of catchwords. The design features of catchword have been identified in previous studies as the reference to a certain time frame, the domain of usage, and the frequency of use. The second feature, domain of usage needs to be re-considered. Not every catchword shares this feature. A catchword is pinned down on a historical time frame, which is bound with a given time. Novelty is another feature which leads to its popularity. Because of its temporal feature and novelty, the frequency of catchword goes higher than other types of words. Temporality and high frequency are the main features of catchwords, which are characteristics of almost every catchword. Novelty, on the other hand, is the characteristic of most catchwords, and novelty is a subordinate feature.
