摘要《了不起的盖茨比》是菲茨杰拉德最优秀的作品。在小说人物的塑造方面,菲茨杰拉德对象征手法的成功运用无疑是这部小说最突出的写作特色。通过对小说中颜色、事物等基调的象征手法的运用分析,展示出人们在理想与现实、精神与物质等方面在现实生活中的冲突。通过对这种冲突的必然性和毁灭性象征意义的分析,展示出作者对其所处的浮躁的"爵士乐时代"的深刻鞭挞和对美国梦的遥不可及的辛辣讽刺。 The Great Gatsby is the masterpiece of Fitzgerald. In the characterization of the novel, Fitzgerald＇s successful application of symbolic means is undoubtedly the most outstanding writing feature. By the application and analysis of symbolic means in the novel, and also through what Nick saw, what he heard and what he felt, the article exposed the false and ruthless American society.
