Relationship between COX-2 and obesity

摘要 环氧合酶-2(cyclooxygenase-2,COX-2)是前列腺素(PG,prostaglandin)合成过程中一种重要的限速酶,花四四烯酸(archidonic acid)经COX-2催化加氧生成各种PG,从而参与机体各种病理生理过程,近来研究发现,COX-2-PG途径可诱导综色脂肪细胞的再生,参与全身能量平衡的调节,进而减少肥胖。 cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) is an important rate-limiting enzyme during the synthesis of prostaglandins (PGs). It can metabolize arachidonicacid into a variety of PGs products, thus it participates in various pathophysiologic processes of organism. Recently, it has been discovered that COX-2-PG pathway can participate in the regulation of body energy balance by de novo recruitment of brown adipocytes, reducing obesity. Moreover, the pathway can also promote differentiation of adipose tissue to increase adiposity by producing the ligand of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR7) 15-deoxy-△12,14-prostaglandin J2(15d-PGJ2). These results have provided evidence for the association between COX-2 and obesity.
