摘要
"韬光养晦"是理解和把握中国外交政策的关键词之一,提出使英语读者能正确理解和积极认同的翻译,意义重大。拟从翻译效度的视角分析现有的三个译文,并提出自己新的译法"avoid provocations"。该译文既忠实于邓小平的外交思想,又回避了中西谦虚文化差异带来的误解。
The Chinese words Tao Guang Yang Hui is regarded as one of the key words in understanding China＇s loreign policy, so it is of great importance to put forward a qualified English translation to help English readers correctly understand and gladly accept it. This paper analyzes three major existing versions from the perspective of translation validity and brings forward a new version, ＂avoid provocation＂, which keeps faithful to Deng Xiaoping＇ s diplomatic thoughts and avoid the misapprehension caused by the cultural differences about the views of modesty.
