Due to the development of micro-history researches in China, some historians have worried about so-called the fragmentation and dispersion of historiography. The author argues that micro-history study does not necessarily lead to the fragmentation and dispersion. Against the background of a grand history, micro-history study will make contributions to the development of historiography, and extend our historical knowledge. However, micro-history studies under the influence of post-modernism will probably instigate the fragmentation. According to the article, it is unreasonable to separate completely micro-history from major task at present for historians is how to integrate the history instead of making them to be in opposition to each grand narrative in historiography. The former into a proper grand framework of other.
