Through studying effects of transgenic Chi+Glu cotton on soil enzyme activities,we aimed to reveal the safety of transgenic cottons on the soil ecology environment. In field experiments, the activities of invertase, urease, alkaline phosphatase, catalase, and dehydrogenase in soil in which grown transgenic Chi+Glu,Bt cotton and un-transgenic conventional cotton were tested in different cotton growth periods. The result showed that transgenic Chi+Glu cotton in different growth periods played a promoting effect on activities of invertase, catalase and dehydrogenase in soil, while,to some degree,it inhabited urease and alkaline phosphatase in soil. Therefore, transgenic Chi+Glu cotton did not affect the safety of cotton soil ecosystem.
