摘要
美国的西进运动系指从北美独立战争到19世纪末,美国由东向西不断扩展,移民和开发大西部的群众性拓殖运动。本质上是一场经济开发运动,而在经济开发过程中,首先是以农业为起点的,西部大开发推动了美国农业的发展,形成了各具特色的专业经济区,使美国农业实现了机械化生产,促进了美国农业的现代化进程,奠定了美国的世界经济强国地位。
The Westward Movement refers to the colonization and expansion from east to west in United States starting from the Independence War till the end of 19th century,with the large immigration and western development.Essentially it is an economic development campaign with agriculture as its starting point.The development of the western region promotes agricultural growth in the United States,forms the distinctive specialized economic zone,making the United States realize the agricultural mechanization,improving the process of agricultural modernization,and establishing the status for the United States to be a world economic power.
