ONCE when I was with my friends we discussed how we could help our friend who teaches philosophy at a university and had just celebrated his 50th birthday. He is thin and shy, with long hair. His wife died more than two years ago and now he seems to have a hard time. We thought it would be a good idea to find a new wife for him.
