THE members of the International Olympic Bidding Committee in Monte Carlo were amazed at Lang Zhili’s skill in dough modelling. That was in 1993, and the Chinese folk artist was showing her skill to the Committee members. Holding the dough figures that Lang gave them as presents, they could hardly believe that a simple piece of dough could be made into a peace dove so real it appeared ready to fly away. There was also a lovely rabbit, a Chinese boy with a football under his arm, the God of Longevity, the Buddha Maitreya... all looked completely lifelike.
