In 2010, Ningbo adopted comprehensive measures to enhance the stable increase of live pig production and ensure the effective supply for the market. In accordance with the annual livestock journal, by the end of last year, the livestock on hand was about 1.1159 million with 1.6982 million on markets and year on the year increase of 16.17% and 10.94% respectively. People in concern from the municipal animal husbandry and veterinary bureau said that the meat self supply rate was increased to 47% in Ningbo and the live pig standard breeding rate was as high as 96.3%.
