摘要移民及民族问题在上世纪初引起美国本土主义者的警觉,他们主张采取移民限制政策以便维护欧裔白人主控的社会。然而移民浪潮不可抗拒,少数族裔为美国社会发展做出的贡献让美国政府和公众的态度发生了根本转变。双语教育、多元文化主义运动为民族问题的逐渐化解提供了可能。
