The works of the British writer Virginia Wolf were created with her insight into female's identity in society and gender. Her novel Orlando, after being adapted into movie by the playwright and writer Sally Potter, was widely appreciated by critics and the public. The representation of the Gypsy image and the shift of Orlando's gender in the movie not only demonstrated the condemnation and strike against the discrimination of ethnic minorities, and the approval of cultural equality among various nationalities in the multi-cultural background, but also reflected a new life style of single ladies in western countries in a new era.
