A description is given of the loading and reduction of Type A110-1 ammonia synthesis catalyst. In productive operation measures are to be taken to maintain thermal stability, control the temperature at the catalyst layer and the appropriate hydrogen to nitrogen ratio, and prevent intrusion of toxicants into the catalyst, so as to prolong the service life of the catalyst.
