建立了浅埋煤层采场老顶周期来压的“短砌体梁”和“台阶岩梁”结构模型, 分析了顶板结构的稳定性, 揭示了工作面来压明显和顶板台阶下沉的机理是顶板结构滑落失稳, 给出了维持顶板稳定的支护力计算公式, 为浅埋煤层顶板控制定量化分析提供了理论基础.
