文章深入讨论了企业计算的重要课题目录服务及其相关国际标准LDAP和X.500，并对二者进行了比较，论述了目录服务是企业计算关键技术──统一认证服务的实现途径。此外，文中介绍了业界最优秀的目录服务产品和该理论在大型企业信息平台研究设计中的应用。最后评述了LDAP与X.500对比的启示意义。
This paper deeply discusses the significant topic in enterprise computing-directory service, along with its international standards LDAP and X.500, and points out the path to implement unified authentication, which is the key technology of enterprise computing.The currently sophisticated directory concept: cross-platform netware directory service and the best directory products are also discussed in this paper. In the end the meaning of the contrast of LDAP and X.500 is given.
