The combustion characteristics of double-base and composite prope-llant grains with interior cracks were studied experimentally at atmospheric temperature and various pressures. It is shown that the flame propagation speed is increased with the reduce of the crack depth and as the depth of crack decreases, the maximum pressure coursed by combustion in cracks is increased. It is also discovered that when the flame spreads to the end of a crack, a combustion zone is formed immediately near the crack tip accompanied with a obvious pressure protrusion.
