The present paper summarizes the typical characters of micro-disseminated gold deposits in the Luhuo rift, western Sichuan. The systematic study, including the abundance and distribution of elements in the strata and rocks, rare earth element (REE), isotopes (sulfur, carbon, lead) and activation experiment of trace gold in different rocks, reveals that the sulfur in the ores was derived mainly from diagenetic sulfides and associated organic matters in the strata; the carbon was chiefly provided by marine carbonate rocks and organic materials; the REE, lead, gold and related elements such as arsenic, antimony, mercury andbismuth in the ores were derived from the fine-grained clastic turbidite formation of Triassic period, and from the deep materials supplied by seafloor volcanic process and related hydrothemal activities in the rift. Close relationship between organic carbon and gold, mercury and thallium shows that the microorganismplayed an important role in the preliminary enrichment of gold, in which the major mechanism is assimilating and adsorption of gold by bacteria and algae in the relatively deep and reductive sea basin.
