The photocatalytic degradation of phenol with different initial concentration by titanium dioxide suspension has been investigated under irradiation of 125 W high pressure mercury lamp. The photocatalytic reaction was also examined under different pH values. The experimental results indicated that the apparent rate constant K of the photocatalytic degradation of phenol was related to the initial concentration and the pH value of the phenol solution. The apparent rate constant K linearly increased with increasing the initial phenol concentration and with increasing the pH value up to 9. Based on the experimental results, a zero order kinetic model was proposed, being different from that reported in literatures.
