The BRICs cooperation mechanism, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India and China, has emerged against a backdrop of profound changes in the international pattern since the end of the Cold War. Although still in its infancy, the mechanism has displayed the potential for cooperation and shows signs of developing into one of the most significant rising powers of the 21st century. The BRIC mechanism looks certain to have a marked influence on the cooperation model for rising powers, both in terms of regional cooperation and in the international arena.
