Some Olmec jade carving marks found in Mesoamerica are identified by a few scholars as Chinese oracle-bone and bronze inscriptions. The author of this paper finds that the carved marks are actually incomplete remains of an original picture, not writing symbols, nor Chinese Writing. The fragmentary remains still carry identifiable parts and can be traced with Olmec conventional iconographical images. The identification of other scattered signs from Central and South Americas has also methodological problems of being coincidental and lack of systematic organization. Therefore, the case of the Chinese identification of the Olmec marks cannot be established.
