摘要
涉外标识语已经成为全球化背景下中国城市中一道亮丽的"语言风景线",但涉外标识语建设和英汉对译存在着大量不规范、不"文明"现象。标识语是一种不同于其他语言现象的特殊语言,对其翻译必须牢固树立政治观念、技术观念和民族观念。在标识语翻译中,应从符号层次、结构层次、语用层次和文化层次四个方面来进行规范化建设。
As a brilliant ＂Linguistic landscape＂ against the backdrop of the globalization,external public signs can be found in all the major cities of China,yet unfortunately in public places are a lot of non-standard and ＂uncivilized＂ versions of Chinese-to-English translation.Public signs represent a special linguistic cluster quite distinct from other linguistic phenomena;therefore,the translators must adhere to the three principles of politics,techniques and nationalism when doing the translation.So it is necessary to bring the sign translations in line with the bilingual construction.Namely,these four symbolic,structural,pragmatic and cultural levels must be taken into account in the process of translating the public signs.
