Study of Relationship between Background Characteristics of CEOs and Enterprise Performance of Listed Companies in Mechanical Industry in China

摘要基于高层梯队理论,对沪、深两市的87家上市机械行业公司CEO的背景特征与企业绩效之间关系进行了实证分析。研究结果表明:CEO具有政府背景对企业绩效有显著积极影响;任期与企业绩效显著正相关;女性CEO所在上市公司的盈利能力显著低于男性CEO;CEO年龄与企业发展能力呈负相关关系。 Based on the upper echelons theory, an empirical analysis of the relationship between the background charactenstlcs ot CEOs and enterprise performance of 87 listed companies in mechanical industry in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets is carried out. The study results show that the CEOs＇ government background has obviously positive influence on the enterprise performance. The tenure is positively correlated with the enterprise performance. The profitability of the listed companies with female CEOs is obviously lower than that with male CEOs. The age of CEOs is negatively correlated with the enterprise development capacity.
