The water footprint of a product is defined as the total volume of fresh water that is used directly or indirectly to produce the product.The water footprint analysis approach provides a means of improving water resources management for an individual,enterprise or state.The dyeing and finishing industry is not only the water intensive industry,but also a high wastewater discharge industry.To improve the utilization of water resources have great impact on the dyeing and finishing industry.The significance of water footprint accounting in dyeing and finishing industry is discussed by using the water footprint analysis approach.
