摘要
根据社会符号学的意义观,意义分为言内意义、语用意义、指称意义。指称意义为语言符号最基本内容,是其他意义的基础,翻译的基本要求是再现指称意义。由于英汉语言具有不同的特点,两者在语音、词汇、句法结构、思维方式、文化等诸多方面存在巨大差异,因此翻译中完整再现指称意义并非易事。通过对词语的指称意义与字面意义之间的差异、语境对词语指称意义的制约、词语指称意义翻译策略三方面的探讨,揭示了翻译中词语指称意义再现问题。
Referential meaning is the most essential content of linguistic signs,and the basis of other meanings.The basic requirement in translation exists in reproduction of referential meaning.Due to differences in various characteristics between English and Chinese in terms of phonetics,vocabulary,syntax,ways of thinking,and culture,it is a hard nut to crack to reproduce referential meaning.The paper is intended to study how to reproduce word referential meaning in connection with the distinction between referential meaning and literal meaning,the role that context plays in determining referential meaning,and translation strategies of referential meaning.
