摘要
中国高校校训是一种相对独特的应用文体,大多源自于儒家经典、名人题词和名言摘录;高度概括或折射出学校的办学理念、人才培养目标和师生员工行为准则。从中国高校校训英译的表达方式、应遵循的原则和步骤等几方面列举分析,提出了英译时应注意的方法和规律。
A college motto is a unique practical style of writing.Most of the Chinese college mottos originated from the classical Confucian works,the inscriptions and excerpts of celebrities,which fully express the concept of school-running,the goal of talent training and regulations for the teaching staff and students.This article analyzes with examples from the styles of expressions,the rules and steps that should be abide by in the Chinese-English translation of Chinese college mottos and raises the laws and methods in this process in order for the cultural communication between China and the western countries.
