The effect of addition of growth regulator into the microbial catalytic transformation system of steroid was investigated. It was shown that the proper concentration of growth regulator is 0.025%. Addition of proper quantity of growth regulator greatly enhanced the growth yield and the catalytic transformation activity of mold, when steroid substrate was added after 42 h of cultivation. This effect may be accounted for the ability of the growth regulator spreading itself into the cells in the nonionic form.
