To compare the effcacy of the correction of myopia between laser in situKeratomilleusis
(LASIK)and photo refrective keratomy(PRK).Methods A total of 600 eyes with pre-operative
refraction of -1.25~20.00 diopters were studied.According to the refraction, the patients were
divided into 3 groups=mild and moderate myopia(-1.25~6.00D)234 eyes,PRK was performed
on 194 eyes and LASIK was performed on 40 eyes;high myopia(-6.25~10.00D)249
eyes,PRK107 eyes and LASIK 142 eyes,Severe myopia(-10.25~20.00D)117 eyes,PRK 8 eyes
and LASIK 109 eyes,The patients had been followed-up for 12 to 23 months.Results By 12
months postoperatively,in the above groups,100%,73.8%and 50.0% were within ±1D after PRK
and 100%,88.7%,74.3% were within ±1D after LASIK respectively.86.6%,62.6%,37.5% were
within ±0.5D after PRK and 87.5%,80.3%,50.5% were within0.5D after LASIK respectively. The
uncorrected visual a cuity was 0.5 or better in 100%,76.6%,62.5% of the patients through
PRK,100%,91.5%,72.5% through LASIK respectively and 1.0 better in 87.6%,63.6%,12.5% of the
patients through PRK,96.0%,76.0%,52.3% of the patients throuhg LASIK.Conclusion PRK can be
satisfaction for the correction of mild and moderate myopia(≤-6.00D),LASIK is effective for the
correction of mild, moderate, high and severe myopia LASIK is more stable and better
predictbility than PRK.Howere operaton is more complicated and complication is more severe
than PRK.
