Oil and gas exploration in most areas and major horizons of Songliao Basin have reached a stage of high maturity. Presently, there are few structural trap reservoirs remaining to be drilled in the basin, and major targets of exploration have been shifted to lithostratigraphic oil and gas reservoirs. The latest evaluation of reservoirs shows that there are still considerable resources remaining to be discovered in the southem part of Songliao Basin.
