This paper describes the calculation of electric field distribution on 500kV OMU using charge simulation method, and studies the sampling method of electric field signals of sensor of OMU. The influence of grading ring on the field distribution, insulation structure and sensitivity of sense area are discussed. The selection of sense position and its installation are also proposed.
