An HPLC method was established for the determination of phillyrin and ephedrine hydrochloride in Lianhuaqingwen capsules. A C18 column was used with the mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.1% phosphoric acid by gradient elution at the detection wavelength of 207 nm. The calibration curves for phillyrin and ephedrine hydrochloride were linear in the ranges of 4.2-84.2 ng and 8.0-160.2 ng. The recoveries were 97.3% and 98.7%,with RSDs of 1.4% and 1.5%.
