Effect of manganese content in steel on its atmospheric corrosion

摘要 为了研究锰对钢材耐腐蚀性的影响,对不同锰质量分数的试验钢进行了大气曝露试验,并对曝露试验后的锈层进行了分析。曝露试验结果表明,试验钢的腐蚀率在江面铁路桥上随着钢中锰质量分数的增加而增加,但当锰质量分数达到1.5%以上时,锰对腐蚀性能的不利作用不再增加。在武钢站,锰对腐蚀率的影响呈周期性变化,较适宜的锰质量分数在0.87%左右。锈层分析结果表明,锰对钢材腐蚀性能的不利作用,主要与锰在腐蚀过程中不能形成稳定产物有关。 In order to clarify the effect of manganese content in steel on its corrosion property, atmospheric exposure tests for steel samples with different manganese contents were carried out and the rust layer after exposure tests were analyzed. The results showed that the corrosion rate of steel samples on the river railway bridge would increase with the increase of manganese content. However, when the manganese content reached over 1.5 percent, the adverse effect of manganese on the corrosion rate would not be apparent. Exposure tests made at WISCO station showed that the effect of manganese on the corrosion rate was changed periodically and the appropriate manganese content was around 0.87 percent. Rust layer analysis showed that the adverse effect of manganese on the corrosion rate was mainly related with no forming of stable corrosion products.
